Day Ninety-three

Today"s words:
Benefit
Lift
Dove
Lamp
Brakes
Republic

There's no benefit
To giving someone a lift,
Unless he brings a dove
Along. Shine your lamp
On the brakes
There and remember this is a republic.

I fail to see how this republic
Can be of benefit
To someone applying the brakes
To a downward spiral and attempting to lift
Himself out of darkness by shining a lamp.
I set free a dove,

The universal sign of peace, while you dove
Behind the voting booth, looking for the republic
To shine a lamp
To benefit
All of us and lift
Us up while using the brakes

To stop us.  But there are no brakes
On a dove.
The lift
Beneath its wings sustains it, as the republic
Exists to benefit
All on whom her lamp

Shines. Shine the lamp
On these brakes.
They're of no benefit
In their current state, just like when you dove
Behind the shadow of the republic,
Using it as an excuse to lift

You out of here.  I lift
My lamp
On the shore of the republic.
Do you know who I am yet? Stepping on the brakes
Won't change anything. I already dove
Out of the way. The only benefit

Would be a slight lift to the brakes,
Allowing the light from the lamp to shine on the dove,
Symbol of the republic and its benefit.
